Kenchion Jones' Family

William Benton Kenchion Jones was Abe and Dollie's sixth child and third son.  He married Waylonia Grayson Johnson.

Sadie Cleo Carter passed away.

Gwen, daughter to Cleo, Rhonda, daughter to Hertha Ann, Etta, daughter to Cleo. This was taken at Aunt Sister's funeral luncheon.

This is probably the last photo of Aunt Sister (Ettalene) before she passed away a few years later. Pictured are Ettalene at the piano; Sadie Cleo sitting beside her; my neighbor & cousin, Doris.

Mom, Doris & I rode down to Summerville for a visit & for Aunt Sister to tutor me on the piano. We laughed, sang & enjoyed a big lunch before heading home.

1898

On this day in 1898 my granddad was born to Daniel and Delia Wheat. Edwin E. Wheat grew up to become a teacher, principal, a member of the NAACP and a leader in his community.

Great-Grandpa Abe

Mom told me that today is the anniversary of Grandpa Abe's death. He's been gone for 68 years. He passed away in 1945. He was born a slave and after slavery, he fulfilled his dream of owning land, marrying the girl of his dreams (great-grandma Dollie), having children and prospering, which all came true.

My grandma once said to my mom, "People are dead much longer than they are alive." When mom told me this, I didn't think to much about it but over the years as I remember loved one and hear about my ancestors, it begins to make sense.
